Georgia lottery winner shot to death in home invasion

FITZGERALD, Ga. — A forklift driver in Georgia who won nearly half a million dollars in the lottery last November was shot to death during a home invasion on Thursday, police say.
According to WALB, Craigory Burch Jr., 20, was killed overnight Thursday at a home on Stubbs Avenue in Fitzgerald.
Burch was inside the house with his girlfriend at the time of the home invasion, and he ran for help when he was shot.
WALB reports that back on Nov. 29, Burch matched all five numbers on the Fantasy 5 drawing — winning the $434,272 jackpot.
According to a Georgia Lottery news release, Burch said, “I knew that I would come into money. I couldn’t believe it at first. I was stunned. I’m still overwhelmed.”
Friends of Burch told WALB that he used some of his lottery winnings to buy Christmas presents for people in need.
The world is desperately wicked.
